An Aladdin spin off featuring Prince Anders is reportedly in the works at Disney+.

The scene-stealing potential suitor for Princess Jasmine was played by Billy Magnussen in the film, which was released earlier this year. He is said to be reprising the role for the spin-off.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jordan Dunn and Michael Kvamme have been hired to pen the script for the spin-off, which is in early development for Disney+.

However, the publication notes that it is not a sequel to Aladdin – which is said to be in the planing stages.

Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who produced Aladdin, will be producing the spin-off project.

Prince Anders was an original character created for the film, one of the royals from the fictional kingdom of Skanland who arrived in Agrabah to try and woo Princess Jasmine.

And while he only appeared in a few senes, the character definitely made an impression on viewers.

It is unclear if Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott or Will Smith will be making a cameo appearance in the project.

Aladdin was released in cinemas in May 2019. The Musial drama then went on to gross a billion dollars worldwide.

Disney+ is expected to expand into Europe in 2020.
