Another Disney Classic Will Be Made Into A Live-Action Film

So this is happening...

Sue Murphy

Given the massive success of Maleficent over the last few weeks and films like Mirror Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman it was only going to be a matter of time before we saw more live-action fairytales on the big screen.

According to Den of Geek, It turns out the next big live-action film from Disney will be Beauty and the Beast and the studio have already picked a director for the project, Bill Condon.

This is an incredibly interesting choice for the film as Condon’s CV includes The Fifth Estate, The Twilight Saga’s Breaking Dawn and Dreamgirls. He certainly seems to be covering most bases.

However, the film may be competing with another Beauty and the Beast film from Warner Brothers which could possibly be directed by Guillermo del Toro.

Beauty and the Beast is the latest in a number of confirmed live-action remakes; Cinderella directed by Kenneth Branagh is on the way soon and there are rumours of a 101 Dalmations remake along with The Jungle Book.

The original animation grossed about $170 million worldwide.
