The award-winning Katie Taylor documentary is coming to Netflix very soon
The critically-acclaimed Katie Taylor documentary is going be coming to Netflix next week.
KATIE, directed by Ross Whitaker (Unbreakable: The Mark Pollock Story) will be available to stream on Netflix in Ireland from Monday, March 11.
The award-winning KATIE has been wowing audiences since it picked up the Best Irish Feature Documentary award at the Galway Film Fleadh last summer.
It follows champion boxer Katie Taylor as she attempts to rebuild her career after a year of turmoil threatened to derail her career. With many writing her off, Taylor decided to start again, and the notoriously private champion agreed to let a small crew document her attempt to rescale the heights.
Katie Taylor has won six amateur European championships, five world amateur championships and is an Olympic Gold Medal winner from the London 2012 Olympic Games.
She turned professional after a disastrous campaign at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, which saw her crash out in the first round despite being favourite to win.
The film unravels the deeply personal reasons behind the career low and shows the champions grit and determination to start over as a professional. Katie won her first world title within a year and became the first woman in history to headline her own Sky Sports show.
20x20 is an ambitious two-year long initiative to better promote and champion women in sport.
With the tagline of "if she can't see it, she can't be it," the 20x20 movement has three targets to reach by 2020:
- 20 percent more media coverage of women in sport
- 20 percent more female participation
- 20 percent more attendance at women’s competitions and events
And at Maximum Media, we're proud that Her and SportsJOE is backing the 20x20 movement as official digital media partners.
