A Beauty and the Beast live action TV series is coming to Disney+

Production is starting next year.

The live action Beauty and the Beast remake back in 2017 blew us all away, from the stunning gowns to the spot on costumes, there was something that left us wanting more.

And Disney+ is giving it to us. The streaming service has announced that a prequel to the hit remake is coming, and some fan favourite characters are making a comeback.

With eight episodes all done as a musical like the original and the remake, the new show will take place years before the films were set.

But that’s not the best part, Luke Evans and Josh Gad are returning as Gaston and LeFou from the remake, and this duo did not disappoint back in 2017.

The pair are set to head on a journey with LeFou’s step sister Tilly, played by Briana Middleton, and after not everything goes right for them, they discover something from Tilly’s past.

The three pals are set to find love, have a laugh and even bump into some old friends and foes.

Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer at Disney Branded Television, said: “For anyone who’s ever wondered how a brute like Gaston and a goof like LeFou could have ever become friends and partners, or how a mystical enchantress came to cast that fateful spell on the prince-turned-beast, this series will finally provide those answers… and provoke a whole new set of questions.”

Alan Menken is returning to write a whole new soundtrack for the series, after he had scored the original 1991 film and the live action version.

Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, who you may know from another fairy tale TV series Once Upon a Time, are taking the wheel on writing the show while Josh Gad is giving his helping hand producing it with them.

Unfortunately, no other cast members from the film will be appearing in the show despite Gad and Evans hopping on board, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
