Betty and Jughead’s relationship is going to be put to the test in Riverdale’s season four

There’s still a few months to go until season four of Riverdale debuts.

But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some hints about what fans can expect especially after some of the cast members were at San Diego Comic Con over the weekend.

One of the secrets? It looks like Betty and Jughead – aka: ‘Bughead’ – may have their relationship put to the test this season.

There’s no denying that, as far as Riverdale couples go, the pair have had a relatively easy time over the last few seasons.

But everyone’s favourite couple will reportedly be going long-distance in season four – with Lili Reinhart noting  the “distance will probably cause some stress.”

The cast were talking to Entertainment Tonight at Comic-Con, when Cole Sprouse revealed that while the couple are “going strong, Jughead is going to be heading to prep school next season.

This means “he’s only back in Riverdale on the weekends.”

He added:

“I think that is going to inevitably put stress on the relationship between Betty and Jughead.

“I think it might be a little bit tense. They might fall, turn away from each other, only to come back together way stronger. I think they’re gonna be really good.”

The news comes as Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse – who play Betty and Jughead on the CW series – are reported to have split after two years of dating.

According to Us Weekly, the pair kept their distance from each other at Entertainment Weekly‘s Comic Con party over the weekend and were “rarely seen together.”

The publication also alleges that Cole was overheard telling a friend that they have gone their separate ways.

Lili and Cole were together for two years, first confirming they were a couple in 2017 at the same Comic Con event.
