Channel 5 has confirmed the news.

Big Brother’s Lewis Flanagan has been removed from the house with “immediate effect” for “unacceptable language”.

Channel 5 confirmed the news in a statement released on social media this evening.

They wrote:

“Lewis has been removed from the Big Brother House for unacceptable language that contravenes the rules.

“Lewis has left the house with immediate effect.”

It is not clear what he said that caused him to be removed from the house.

The news comes just a week ahead of the longtime reality series’ final ever episode, which is due to air on November 5.

The special, called Goodbye Big Brother, will run from 10pm to 11.15pm that evening – before the last Big Brother’s Bit on the Side.

Channel 5 announced last month that this series of Big Brother would be the last – both of the civilian and celebrity versions.

They said in a statement:

“The forthcoming series of Big Brother will be the last – of either celebrity or civilian versions – on Channel 5.

“We’d like to thank Endemol and all of the production team who have worked tirelessly to make the show a success.

“We’d also like to thank our brilliant presenters – Emma on Big Brother and Rylan from Bit on the Side – for their consummate professionalism, Marcus, the voice of Big Brother and all of the housemates who have created so many memorable moments.

“Most importantly, we’d like to thank fans of the show for their support over the last seven years.

“We look forward to giving the final series a brilliant send-off.”
