Brie Larson responds to her ‘not clapping’ reaction to Casey Affleck’s Oscar win

In a night filled to brim with talking points, one of the major ones was when last year’s Best Actress winner Brie Larson was presenting the award for Best Actor.

When it was announced that Casey Affleck had won for his role in Manchester By The Sea, everyone noticed how Larson stood stock still behind him and seemed to refuse to applaud his win.

On the red carpet for Kong: Skull Island, Larson was asked by Vanity Fair about the moment: “I think that whatever it was that I did onstage kind of spoke for itself. I’ve said all that I need to say about that topic.”

Affleck recently settled out of court in regard to claims of sexual harassment, about which he too recently broke his silence.

Larson has been heavily involved in the rape victim community assistance, especially since having won her Oscar last year for her role in Room, playing a long term victim of abuse and kidnapping in Room.

At last year’s ceremony, she greeted and hugged every single sexual abuse victim that was on stage during Lady Gaga’s performance of Til It Happens To You, the Oscar-nominated song for documentary The Hunting Ground, which dealt with campus rape in America.
