‘It can be so lonely’: Little Mix reveal the sad reality of fame

The group reveal the lonely truth.

The girl group have spoken honestly about life in the public eye.

Since their first appearance on X Factor back in 2011, Little Mix have been one of the most recognisable groups in the industry.

However, as the saying goes, there’s a price for fame, and Little Mix say they’re paying it.

While red carpets and awards shows may look exciting, Perrie, Leigh-Anne, Jade and Jesy say that it can be a very lonely place too.

“This year we’ve all bought houses, and none of us have slept in them,” Leigh- Anne told The Guardian.

“Even in a group, it can be the loneliest place. Our mums came on tour and mine was baffled by it all.

“She kept saying in the car: ‘You just do this on your own? Don’t you want to be with people? This is so lonely!’

“I guess we’re just used to it. It is a funny little world.”

Leigh-Anne’s sentiment was echoed by Jesy who said that sometimes the isolation of the job can overwhelm her.

“I got back from Europe and had to pack and go again,” she said.

“I was looking at all of my suitcases on my floor and burst our crying. I was like: ‘I can’t do this.’

“Literally I nearly had a breakdown like, ‘I need help. This is too much. I just want to be home.’”

Leigh-Anne said the pressure of the public eye also makes it more difficult for them to truly feel the way they do.

“We are in the public eye 24/7 and we don’t get our personal space or privacy,” she said.

“It’s especially hard when you want to just be sad.

“If you are feeling like crap and you can’t just fucking cry, then yeah, that’s… weird.”

However, Perrie wanted to assure people that just because it can be lonely, they also count themselves incredibly fortunate to have been given the opportunity.

“This is our frickin’ dream!”
