Daredevil now has a face – Marvel announced this week that Charlie Cox is to take on the superhero role in the new TV series.
Best known for his appearances in Boardwalk Empire and Stardust, Cox will be joining the series for the 13 episodes that are to air on Netflix in 2015.
Cox is playing the lead character who is “blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell's Kitchen, New York City”.
The TV adaptation was initially to be helmed by Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Alias) but following the reshuffling over the weekend, the show will be run by Steven S. DeKnight.
Despite Goddard handing over the role, he’ll still act as a consultant, but will be focusing in on directing the Spider-Man spinoff Sinister Six.
