The Chase is set to get a spinoff with a very different format

Paul Moore

Very interesting…and daunting.

Ah, The Chase.

The best of all the daytime TV gameshows (don’t @ us because it is). Are you one of those viewers that think to yourself ‘I could be on this show,’ I’d do better than them,’ and ‘I’d be able to hold my nerve against The Chaser.’

Well, the idea of taking on one Chaser is tough, how about taking on five of them in one go?

Yep, we’d crap ourselves too and suffer a colossal brain fart.

That’s the daunting task that ITV are presenting contestants with their brand new spin-off for 2020 called Beat the Chasers.

In terms of its format, the new show will see all five Chasers/quiz champions/braniacs appearing at the same time as they try to stop some brave/foolish souls from going home with any money.

The official synopsis states, “On this new series, for the first time ever, all five chasers Anne Hegerty, Mark Labbett, Jenny Ryan, Paul Sinha and Shaun Wallace will compete together as a team challenging contestants to play against them for huge cash prizes.”

In a break from the norm, the spinoff is only going to air across one week, rather than a full series.

Speaking about the new spinoff, host Bradley Walsh said, “the contestants are brave facing one Chaser, let alone all five. With that group of top quizzing brains working as a team, it’s going to take some beating. But I can’t wait to see who’s going to take them on.”

We’ll definitely be watching.
