Cinemas across Ireland to celebrate National Cinema Day with €4 tickets

Rory Cashin

Every film, every time, every type of seat will be €4 for the whole day in cinemas across the country.

Cinemas across Ireland will celebrate National Cinema Day on Saturday, 3 September by selling tickets for every film they’re showing for €4 per ticket.

For the cinemas taking part, the ticket price for the day will apply to every movie they’re showing, no matter what time of day, including premium seating, premium screens and 3D screenings.

Over 95% of cinemas across the Republic of Ireland are set to participate in the initiative, with participating cinemas and cinema chains including Arc Cinemas, Carrick Cineplex, Cineworld, Eclipse Cinemas, Eye Cinema, Gate Cinemas, IMC Cinemas, Light House Cinema, Movies@ Cinemas, Odeon Cinemas, Omniplex Cinemas, Pálás Cinema, Reel Cinemas and Vue Cinemas.

Tickets for National Cinema Day can be purchased from Monday, 29 August from the cinema websites or via their box office.

Obviously different cinemas will have different listings, but some of the movies you can expect to check out on National Cinema Day include Nope, Top Gun: Maverick, Bullet Train, Spider-Man: No Way Home (The More Fun Stuff Version), Beast, E.T. (40th Anniversary), The Invitation, An Cailín Ciúin (The Quiet Girl), The Forgiven, Fall, Blackbird and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (40th Anniversary).

On the initiative, Mark Anderson, the director of Omniplex Cinemas, said the following:

“Cinema has been an ever-present in Irish society for over 100 years and we are delighted to participate in National Cinema Day by offering €4 tickets for all shows, all day, including new releases. It is important for the industry to celebrate cinema and what better to do that than by enjoying a movie (or two) on 3rd September 2022. There will be something for everyone to enjoy! See you on Saturday, and remember, book early to avoid disappointment!”
