Comedian and actress Victoria Wood has died, aged 62

Comedian Victoria Wood has passed away, aged 62.

According to BBC, after a “short but brave battle” with cancer, Victoria died at her North London home this morning.

The news was confirmed by her publicist, Neil Reading, who said: “The multi Bafta award-winning writer, director, actor and comedian died peacefully at her north London home with family this morning.

“The family ask for privacy at this very sad time”.

Victoria rose to fame with Victoria Wood As Seen On TV, a TV series which was hugely popular in the 1980s.

Dinnerladies, written by Victoria, was another programme that she starred in and it won major favour with viewers.

The comedian and actress, who often collaborated with Julie Walters and Duncan Preston, won five BAFTAs throughout her career, two of which were for ITV drama Housewife 49.
