Coronation Street confirm when the truth about Jade Rowan will be exposed

Keeley Ryan

Coronation Street have confirmed when the truth about Jade Rowan will be exposed.

And, yeah, it’s a lot sooner than we expected.

In November, fans of the soap found out that Jade was the daughter of Fiz’s late husband, John Stape – and that she was keen to get closer to her half-sister, Hope.

Things are set to come to a head in the coming days, as Hope and Fiz are set to see their children Ruby and Hope taken from their care.

The social worker will ask the pair – as well as Evelyn, Tyrone’s grandmother – about Hope’s injuries. And while they maintain their innocence, the social worker tells them that Hope is blaming Fiz for her injuries.

And things go from bad to worse as the cops quiz Fiz about the gun that was used by Derek, when he shot and killed Robert Preston.

The social worker calls and tells Fiz that Hope has a half-sister who has offered to take care of the girls.

But how are they going to react when they find out the truth?

Coronation Street is set to air these scenes on January 8.

Jennie McAlpine spoke to DigitalSpy about the storyline – and what’s next for Fiz and Tyrone.

“It would be easy for Tyrone to blame Fiz for bringing Jade into their lives. At the end of the day, Hope is not his daughter, but I do think they are strong and can get through this,” she said.

“Fiz is a mother and a caring person. She will understand that Jade is a victim in all of this too, but first of all she has to try and clear her name. Jade has caused the family so many problems and there is worse to come.”

The actress added that she thought it was an “absolutely brilliant” decision to revisit John Stape’s storyline.

“Everybody loved John Stape and how daft Fiz was, not noticing all of the bodies,” she added. “The fact he’s back in this guise is great.”

“We don’t know how much Jade knows about her dad, but the traits she’s got from him are uncanny. She’s doing all of these bad things for what she thinks is the right reason, to look after Hope, just like he thought he was doing all of his things for the right reason!”
