"We can confirm a small domestic generator was stolen during a low-level opportunistic theft from the unit base of filming today [Friday] for Coronation Street whilst the crew were on location in Bolton," an ITV spokesperson said.
"The programme's cast and crew weren't at the unit base at the time. The incident was reported to the police and filming wasn't affected."
The filming in question involves Steve unwillingly becoming a getaway driver for a balaclava clad lad who jumps in his taxi.
Steve is then coerced into helping the man rob a garage while he speeds him away in his cab to safety.
He will later be questioned by police for his involvement in the crime.
