Today, Mallard said that he was "embarrassed" by his condition.
“I have had this nearly 10 years. My solution was to hide and manage it. Because of the job that I’m in it could be detrimental. “I was incredibly embarrassed and then angry and then I started getting lots of messages from people on Twitter saying, ‘Me too’.”
The 25-year-old said that the condition first affected his hands, but that it could move to his voice box and his spine as he grows older.
He also explained that while he's shooting episodes of the soap, he tends to hold props so the shaking is less noticeable.
"They're great with me," he said.
