Former Coronation Street star Sue Johnston has landed a role in Downton Abbey.
The actress, who is also known for starring in The Royle Family, will have a guest role in the upcoming series of the period drama.
According to reports she will play Denker, a lady’s maid to the Dowager Countess of Grantham (played by Maggie Smith).
Speaking about it, Sue said: “I’m delighted and very excited to be a part of Downton Abbey. I have some lovely friends in it that I’ll be so happy to be working with and I cannot wait to start filming”
Production on the new season is set to begin this summer. It is then expected to return to the small screen in autumn.
