Corrie’s Simon Gregson weighs in on Steve’s reaction after finding out about Tracy’s one-night stand

Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson has opened up about Steve McDonald’s reaction to Tracy Barlow cheating on him.

On New Year’s Eve, Tracy had a drunken one-night stand with Paula Martin – and has been frantically trying to cover up what happened to try and protect her marriage.

And with scenes next week set to see the truth emerge, the actor opened up about Steve’s reaction to finding out what happened – and whether their relationship can recover.

“Steve is still trying to make things up with Tracy over lying to her on New Year’s Eve. He organises a jacuzzi party for the two of them, but Sally has also planned one and Tracy is embarrassed when Paula and Leanne arrive,” he told Digital Spy

“Leanne knows what happened and finds it very funny to see how uncomfortable Tracy is. Steve is suspicious and when Tracy finally tells him the truth, he can’t believe what he is hearing.

“Tracy tells Steve she is not gay, but she was just feeling unloved and down in the dumps. It is ironic that he has done nothing wrong on this occasion and she manages to turn it round and make it his fault.”

Steve later ends up telling Emma that he does love Tracy, with Gregson admitting the news “has made him realise that he doesn’t want to lose her and he does want to make his marriage work.”
