Cristiano leaves Fair City tonight as he struggles to deal with panic attacks

Thankfully, he’ll be back soon enough.

Cristiano makes plans to leave Fair City tonight following his brutal attack from partner Will.

The domestic abuse survivor has been suffering from panic attacks ever since he was assaulted in his apartment last week, leading to his eventual decision to leave the town tonight.

During last night’s instalment of the soap, Cristiano’s panic led to brother Jake convincing him to move back to Chile – until he was feeling more confident in his home.

However, it’s not all plain sailing as Cristiano is set to receive an upsetting letter from Will in tonight’s episode, leaving his plans in disarray.

Jake, upon finding out about the letter, explodes and threatens Will’s life, while vowing to ensure that his brother leaves Ireland with him.

Actor Rodrigo Ternevoy recently told Dublin City FM that he will indeed be taking a “break break” from Fair City – but that he’ll be back soon enough.

“I’m away until next year, I have a big break now,” he said. “Usually, that’s how it works.”

“I think they like the idea of giving a break to a character that has been through a lot so they don’t get tired of your face as well.”

Ternevoyn added that when he was first told about the domestic abuse storyline, he wasn’t immediately informed about how dark it was going to get.

“I didn’t have a clue until it got very close,” he said.

“Because it’s a domestic violence storyline and again domestic violence is not only about physical abuse, it could be financial, it could be mental that sort of thing.

“The whole storyline started at the beginning of the year really, you could see some hints of over-controlling.

“The topic is very sad and like even when I was reading the scripts at the beginning I was getting very emotional.”

Fair City continues tonight on RTÉ One at 8.00pm.
