Actor Rodrigo Ternevoy recently told Dublin City FM that he will indeed be taking a "break break" from Fair City - but that he'll be back soon enough.
"I'm away until next year, I have a big break now," he said. "Usually, that's how it works."
"I think they like the idea of giving a break to a character that has been through a lot so they don't get tired of your face as well."
Ternevoyn added that when he was first told about the domestic abuse storyline, he wasn't immediately informed about how dark it was going to get.
"I didn't have a clue until it got very close," he said.
"Because it's a domestic violence storyline and again domestic violence is not only about physical abuse, it could be financial, it could be mental that sort of thing.
"The whole storyline started at the beginning of the year really, you could see some hints of over-controlling.
"The topic is very sad and like even when I was reading the scripts at the beginning I was getting very emotional."
Fair City continues tonight on RTÉ One at 8.00pm.Explore more on these topics:
