And there's a striking resemblance.

And there’s a striking resemblance.

After two hugely successful seasons of playing HRH Queen Elizabeth, Claire Foy now steps away from the role that catapulted her career to new heights.

However, the show must go on and with Olivia Coleman having been confirmed to take over the role months ago, fans have been eagerly anticipating her first appearance on screen.

Well, the first pictures of Coleman in the role have now been released and we think she looks just the part.

The Broadchurch actress can be seen posing at the dining room table going in for a sip of tea, just as we imagine the queen does regularly, and we think she bears a striking resemblance to the real thing.

Olivia will play the role of Queen Elizabeth II for the third and fourth seasons of the show alongside Tobias Menzies who will step in as Prince Philip.

And the rest of the new cast is just as impressive with Princess Margaret now being played by Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Daniels starring as Antony Armstrong-Jones.

The images come after the show has just received 13 Emmy nominations including one for Foy in her role as young Elizabeth.
