Could Dec be presenting Britain’s Got Talent without Ant this year?

He wowed viewers at home with his solo debut on Saturday Night Takeaway.

And now it’s been reported that Declan Donnelly will be presenting the live shows of Britain’s Got Talent on his own.

The television presenter and his co-star Ant McPartlin had already pre-recorded the auditions for the competition before Ant’s arrest for drink-driving in March.

Following his solo presenting debut on last weekend’s Saturday Night Takeaway, a source told the Sun that ITV bosses are keen for Dec to take on the talent show hosting duties solo.

Even Simon Cowell is said to agree.

The insider told the publication:

“After last weekend the feeling is very much that Dec should take on BGT alone too – he did a brilliant job.

“The bosses at ITV loved him and want him back on screens as soon as possible, and Simon Cowell totally agrees that he’s the best man for the job rather than bringing in a new face.

“It was obviously strange for viewers seeing him [Dec] alone at first, but he took everything in his stride like a total pro.

“That’s not to say people didn’t miss Ant, but the overwhelming response was that Dec was fantastic solo too.”

Dec presented the long-running weekend game show solo this past weekend – the first time he’s ever done so without longtime presenting partner, Ant McPartlin.

And while the 42-year-old admitted he suffered a sleepless night ahead of the show, viewers were quick to rally behind him.

Accompanied by Stephen Mulhern and Scarlett Moffat, Dec will be presenting the live series finale of Saturday Night Takeaway this weekend in Florida.
