Saturday Night Takeaway was broadcast without its famous double act as presenters this weekend. Declan Donnelly stepped up and presented the show solo following usual partner Ant McParlin’s arrest for drink driving.

As the series finale approaches, rumours are spreading fast about how Dec might pay tribute to his best mate and long-term career partner.

It has been claimed that Dec will sing the theme tune to the hit sitcom ‘Friends’.

‘I’ll Be There For You’ by The Rembrandts is an instantly recognisable hit and would undoubtedly go down a storm with the audience.

With its upbeat rhythm and wholesome, if a bit sad lyrics, it would be a fitting way to send a warm message to Ant, who is obviously going through a very tough time.

The Rembrandts will be making an appearance on the show for a live sing-along, so for Dec to join-in would be the perfect way to end the series.

On last Saturday’s show, Dec also addressed the studio and crew off-air – welling up as they gave him a standing ovation.

“It’s been the weirdest, weirdest show,” he admitted, adding: “That reception when I came down the stairs… I wasn’t sure what was going to happen.

“I wasn’t sure how I was going to do or how you were going to react… but you carried me all the way through the show.”

The Sun also says that Dec stated: “I couldn’t have done it without you guys. Thank you.”

Saturday Night Takeaway this weekend was watched by more than 8 million people.
