The Deceived starring Paul Mescal is coming to Irish TV next month

Sorted, so.

The Deceived, the new crime series starring none other than Paul Mescal, is coming to Irish TV next month.

Written by Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee and Tobias Beer, the thriller tells the story of a student who falls in love with her married lecturer.

There’s lust, there’s murder and there’s manipulation. There’s also a lot of deception, as the title would suggest.

Oh, and Paul Mescal is in it. Did we mention that? Grand.

“We remain committed to putting Irish drama on the map internationally with ‘The Deceived’, starring Emmet J Scanlan and Paul Mescal, being one of the centrepieces of our new season launch,” says Virgin Media Television’s Director of Content, Bill Malone.

“It will air on Virgin Media One from Monday September 7th, with the full series available on Virgin Media On Demand. Also, a brand new drama set in Dublin, co-commissioned with ITV, has just been given the green light and will air next year.”

Excellent news all round.

The new series will air a back-to-back episode on September 7, so if you were missing a bit of Mescal in your life, you may as well mark you calendar.

This comes a few weeks after Paul’s latest role: the drunk lad in the new Rolling Stones video, as the Co Kildare actor took it upon himself to dance around a vacant hotel to the band’s latest release, ‘Scarlet.’

The video was, unsurprisingly, a hit.

The Deceived debuts on Virgin Media One at 9pm on September 7.
