Derry Girls have been nominated for a BAFTA and it’s entirely deserved

Go on the gals.

March has been a decent month for a couple of reasons.

One of those reasons is because the sun is out. The other is because Derry Girls is back on our screens.

The fourth episode of season two just aired this week and we’ve already been spoiled by uninterested protestants, Take That, and members of the Travelling community who just want to lend a helping hand.

It’s been good and we are eternally grateful to Lisa McGee for unleashing this hilarity onto our lives.

And as it turns out, so are the guys down at the BAFTAs because they’ve gone and given the show a nomination for best scripted comedy.

(Which it absolutely is, by the way.)

The Channel 4 comedy is up against Mum, Sally4ever, and Stath Lets Flats and although we’re sure all of those shows are equally as charming and well put together, nothing has touched the heart of the nation quite like Derry Girls.

It’s not just the best scripted comedy of 2019, it’s the best scripted comedy of the past decade, probably.

A massive congrats to all involved.

Naturally, the stars of the show were only delighted to have been given the BAFTA nod and their responses to the news on social media are pretty much exactly how we’d react if we had been nominated too.
