Derry Girls season two is on the way and yep, we’re beyond excited

We're buzzing!

The wait is almost over.

Yes, it was announced this week that Derry Girls season two is in production with many stars of the show taking to Twitter to post their “read throughs” of the new series.

Set in the 1990s during the Troubles, Derry Girls follows a group of teens who try to grow up and “find their way” during a difficult time in Northern Ireland. A series that will have you in love with the characters and the light-hearted tale which is surprisingly full of humour and hilarious one-liners for the era which it is set in.

The girls are coming BACK!

Sharing an image to Twitter last night, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell who plays Michelle Mallon, the comedic bully in the hit TV show captioned an image of the gang saying:

“We’re back!! #DerryGirls season 2!”

And Jamie-Lee isn’t the only one to break the news that season two is in motion,Nicola Coughlan shared an image of her script on Monday posting with excitement:

“This is really happening in real life.”

The show which broke records when it was aired last year, was watched by over 2.5 million people in Britian and season two is now expected to follow suit.

Although we haven’t been given any details about the plot or a release date just yet, the Mirror is reporting that Bill Clinton’s visit to Derry in 1995 could be featured as well as the ceasefire in Belfast.

One thing we’re also excited to see is Nadine Coyle’s cameo in the next series alongside more Tommy Tiernan on our screens.

Bring it on!
