Chicago 2021, anyone?

A few years back, it was reported that a The Devil Wears Prada musical was in the works.

Then, nothin happened for avery long time and we kind of forgot all about it.

However, the past few months have seen an influx of chat around the upcoming stage adaptation – that is actually happening and has actual Elton John involved in writing the music.

Class.

The musical is set to open in Chicago in 2021, but before that they’ve got to cast the thing; a process that is already well under way.

Tony award winner Beth Leavel will take on the coveted role of Runway editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly, reports PEOPLE.

And although stepping into Meryl Streep’s shoes may prove difficult to some, it appears as though the pair are already in the process of switching roles for another project Streep has in the works.

So, nothing new for Leavel then.

“I am so thrilled that Beth Leavel, one of the American theatre’s great leading artists, will be playing one of the most powerful and feared women in popular culture,” said producer Kevin McCollom.

“Producing The Drowsy Chaperone and seeing Beth win the Tony Award for her performance was a career highlight for me and I know that she will create a brilliant Miranda.”

Also joining Leavel in the musical will be Taylor Imam Jones taking on the role of Miranda’s assistant, Andy Sachs.

The Devil Wears Prada musical will open in Chicago in summer 2021, before moving to New York.
