‘Dirty Dancing’ is being remade for TV, and we’re not sure how to feel about it

If you're a fan of 'Dirty Dancing' you NEED these items in your wardrobe

It’s been almost 30 years since the original film came out.

Patrick Swayze’s dance moves, the music, the quotes – Dirty Dancing was well and truly iconic.

Now, American network ABC has just finished filming a three-hour remake of the film, which will air on TV only.

Jennifer Grey and the late Swayze stole our hearts in the original as Baby and Johnny, and those dancers are a hard act to follow.

Little Miss Sunshine‘s Abigail Breslin is playing Baby, and dancer Colt Prattes is stepping up as Johnny. No pressure then!

Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger is taking on the role of Penny, Johnny’s pregnant dance partner.

While we are sceptical of a remake of such an iconic film, the cast has given us some hope.

Jennifer Grey, who originally played Baby, was asked to return for the remake, but turned it down.

According to The Hollywood Reporter she didn’t quite feel right about being part of the remake, even though she was flattered.

“I was asked to do something on that show and I was flattered because I always want to be asked because it’s nice to want to be included. But for me, it would be sacrosanct for me to do it because it didn’t feel appropriate to me,” she said.

“It feels like if you’re going to do your own thing, do your own thing. I wouldn’t say [what role was offered] but I will tell you, it wasn’t Baby!”

The film is expected keep to the original plot and storyline, and while their might be a few changes, they couldn’t possibly leave out the iconic lift.
