“I am so beyond surprised!”

Dublin singer-songwriter RuthAnne has told how she was left stunned when her song was played during the Love Island finale last night.

The ballad, The Vow, played as the Islanders were reunited for the Love Island 2019 Summer Ball – and when Ovie made his sweet speech about needing to cherish each other.

Taking to Instagram after the scene aired, she said:

“I can’t believe my song #thevow was played for the whole song in such a special scene! I had no idea & am so beyond surprised & happy!

Congrats to the winners @amberrosegill and fellow Irishman @gregoshea…”

She later revealed that she had tried to catch the attention of Love Island bosses last year, as she urged her fans to keep going with their dreams.

On Instagram Stories, she said:

“Last year, when I was watching Love Island, I edited a scene – the one where they came back from Casa Amor, and Josh was with Kaz. I put Take My Place over it, and tried to get Love Island’s attention to use my song.

“Fast forward a year, and they’ve had The Vow in such an important scene in the final. It just shows you can speak stuff into existence, so keep going.”

You can watch the moment The Vow played on Love Island below.

Since the episode has aired, The Vow has climbed to #24 in the Irish iTunes chart, as well as #47 in the UK chart.

It has also been searched for on Shazam more than 7,000 times.

At just eight-years-old, Dublin-born RuthAnne started singing and song writing and performing in musical theatre productions through her stage school and regularly taking the mic at karaoke bars, winning free drinks for her parents.

Her incredible career spans back to being 17-years-old, penning music for huge pop artists, including JoJo’s ‘Too Little Too Late,’ for which RuthAnne achieved the ASCAP Songwriters ‘Best Pop Song’ award.

From then she wrote a string of hit records from Britney Spears’ RIAA platinum certified ‘Work Bitch’ to One Direction’s ‘Where Do Broken Hearts Go’ and Martin Garrix and Bebe Rexha’s In The Name Of Love’.

RuthAnne’s next record ‘Unrequited’ is out on August 9. Her debut album will be released in October.
