EastEnders viewers file complaints as Danny Dyer’s character is framed as paedophile

Ofcom has received complaints about the latest EastEnders storyline.

This week’s instalment of the soap saw Mick Carter, played by Danny Dyer, beaten up in prison after being framed as a paedophile.

Stuart’s friend Fraser was involved in turning all of the inmates against Carter by incorrectly telling them that he was a sex offender.

It was Stuart who concocted the plan against Mick, hoping to get the pub landlord out of his sight and keep him in prison.

The Daily Star reports that Ofcom received six complaints about the episode which saw Mick beaten for a crime he didn’t commit.

“I can confirm we have received six complaints about the Mick Carter/Stuart Highway storyline,” a spokesperson for the organisation told the publication.

Many viewers took to Twitter as the episode was airing to complain about the new storyline and to say that they wouldn’t be watching until the writers took paedophilia “seriously.”
