Ed Sheeran has written songs about two Irish counties

Do you agree with where he picked?

Cathy Donohue

He’s back.

You couldn’t turn on a radio station on Friday without hearing one of Ed Sheeran’s newly-released songs, Shape of You and Castle on a Hill.

Fans went crazy for the tunes and earlier today, Ed was interviewed by 2FM’s Eoghan McDermott.

Chatting about his new album, the talented singer-songwriter said it would include “two full-on Irish jams”.

He explained that one “has something to do with the county of Galway” and the other is based on Wexford, the birthplace of his grandmother.

Ed also said that he has been working with a Belfast-based trad band named Beoga but his only fear is that once people hear this song, they won’t want to hear anything else.

Not only that, Ed is planning a trip to Ireland soon so that he can shoot a video for one of the songs and he’s going to require some ceili dancers.

Have a listen to the interview below, it’s a good one!
