Elton John thinks the remake of The Lion King was a huge disappointment

He was heavily involved in the original movie.

Elton John has said that the remake of The Lion King was a “huge disappointment.” Elton wrote the sound track to the original 1994 animation flick which included songs such as Circle of Life, I Just Can’t Wait To Be King and Can You Feel The Love Tonight.

The singer was also involved in this year’s remake, however he said that there was not as much respect given to this film as there was to the first one.

Speaking to GQ, the 72-year-old said: “The new version of The Lion King was a huge disappointment to me, because I believe they messed the music up.

“Music was so much a part of the original and the music in the current film didn’t have the same impact. The magic and joy were lost,” he said.

Elton went on to say that while he was involved in some capacity, he wasn’t treated with the same respect that he was given the last time.

“I wish I’d been invited to the party more, but the creative vision for the film and its music was different this time around and I wasn’t really welcomed or treated with the same level of respect.

“That makes me extremely sad,” he said.
