It is believed that Sammy will leave the show next year but the source said that show bosses have not yet decided on an exit storyline for Katie.
"The producers haven't decided yet. Emmerdale love a big death because it's great for their ratings" added the source.
Twenty nine-year-old Sammy has played Katie since July 2001.
She took time off from the soap in 2005 to give birth to her daughter Mia and returned in 2006.Top Story
