Tissues at the ready.

A beautiful coming-of-age animated tale is making its Irish premiere on television tonight. The Book of Life will air on RTÉ tonight at 6:35pm.

The animated comedy follows the journey of Manolo, a young man who embarks on an adventure that spans three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears.

It all begins on the Day of the Dead when Manolo finds himself having to compete with a childhood friend after they fall in love with the same woman. Their love triangle catches the eye of the spirits of the dead, leading him on a journey (which also explains death in a different and beautiful way.)

This animation which first debuted in 2014 has been compared to 2017’s Disney hit Coco, so if you like Coco, you are going to LOVE this film. The film also stars a stellar cast including Channing Tatum.

People who have seen the flick described in as the following…

“I absolutely love this movie. The charm it had in visuals and characters, the comedy sometimes on point, animation being absolutely stunning, and the music is just lovely” said one fan.

While another wrote…

“This movie shows of a deeper love and one to most certainly watch no matter what age you are, it is truly beautiful.”
