It's one of the most successful franchises in movie history, but the future of the latest film in the Fast & Furious series was thrown into chaos when star Paul Walker tragically passed away in November. Fast & Furious 7 was midway through filming when Walker, one of it's leading men, was killed in a high speed car accident. He was not behind the wheel at the time. The driver, a friend of the actor's, was also killed.
Producers and co-stars were quick to pay tribute to their late friend, and insisted that the show would go on, but they did not yet know how. Now The Hollywood Reporter reports that filmmakers plan to 'retire' Walker's character O'Conner using the existing footage of the star, meaning that Brian O'Conner will not be killed off and the series could potentially continue past this seventh movie.
The changes require some additional scenes to be written and filmed. An eight-month delay of release had already been announced.
Fast & Furious 7 is now set for release April 10, 2015.
