Is there a female Black Panther series coming to Disney+?

There’s always room for more female superheroes.

When news broke last year of Chadwick Boseman’s death, Disney were adamant that the role of T’Challa in Black Panther wouldn’t be recast to honour his legacy.

But this is not the end for the beloved franchise as it’s looking like we will not only be getting another visit to Wakanda in a sequel to the original, but there’s talks of a spin off show on Disney+.

Disney+ has been blessing us with an abundance of Marvel miniseries’ this year, with WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier being huge hits for the streaming service, along with the upcoming Loki which is highly anticipated.

Danai Gurira is set to reprise her role as Okoye, the leader of Dora Milaje, in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but also in an original Wakanda spin off show.

While little is known about the newest Marvel series and everything is under tight wraps, but if the rumours are true, we’ll get to see Okoye’s origin story.

Okoye isn’t the only Black Panther woman to make another appearance in the Marvel world, Florence Kasumba recently made a return to our screens in her role of Ayo in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier earlier this year.

Nothing has been said yet, however, if any of the other ladies in the Black Panther film will be involved in the new series but fans are holding out for their favourites to be involved.

The new series is being created and developed by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler, who will be also directing the highly anticipated sequel.

While we wait for more news on a new female superhero TV show to binge, it’ll be another year before we get to see Danai reprising her iconic role as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever won’t be hitting cinemas until July 2022.
