The final episodes of a Friends spin-off, which never aired before, are now available to stream.
The iconic ’90s sitcom Friends is among many fans’ all-time favourite series. The show ran from 1994 to 2004 but continues to be rewatched by fans today.
Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and the late Matthew Perry provided fans with 10 years of comfort television.
After the show wrapped up in 2004, Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) ended up getting his own show.
Matt LeBlanc starred in the spin-off series Joey, which premiered on NBC in September 2004.
The spin-off followed Joey's move from the Big Apple to the city of angels, Los Angeles, where he wanted to further pursue his acting career.
Despite the first episode being a big hit amongst fans, viewing figures started to steadily decrease as the series went on.
NBC decided to cancel the series due to low ratings, not even two years after its premiere, per Extra.ie.
The broadcaster even decided to hold off on airing the final eight episodes of the second and final season.
Kevin Bright, executive producer for both Joey and Friends, wasn't entirely happy with how Matt's character developed in the spin-off series.
Bright even went as far as to say that the character of Joey was transformed from a 'solid friend and a guy you knew you could count on' to a 'pathetic, mopey character'.
Kevin said: "Joey was deconstructed to be a guy who couldn’t get a job, couldn’t ask a girl out.
"I felt he was moving in the wrong direction, but I was not heard."
However, almost two decades after the show was cancelled, fans will finally be able to watch the last eight episodes of Joey.
And best of all, you don’t have to turn to dodgy streaming sites to watch them.
The Friends YouTube channel began posting entire episodes of Joey back in March.
About a month ago, the first eight previously unaired episodes, produced after the show’s cancellation, were released.
And now on Wednesday, the final two unaired episodes were uploaded to the YouTube channel.
While NBC has yet to air these eight episodes in the US, they have been shown on networks in other countries.
