'I'm not the most liked person in a room at times': Doireann on backlash over her impressions

“I’m probably going straight to hell but look it.”

After months of teasing it, Doireann Garrihy has revealed that her RTÉ sketch show is to debut this week.

The Doireann Project will stream on the RTÉ Player in ten-minute episodes from tomorrow and hankfully each of the six episodes will be available all at once.

It’ll feature original sketches and some of the presenter’s best-loved impressions of Irish stars including Daithí Ó Sé and Pippa O’Connor.

We also have two longer 30-minute episodes on TV to look forward to in the near future too, Doireann revealed on her Instagram stories last night.

Chatting about her impressions, she said that she had no regrets about anyone she’s ever done.

“I’m going to be hated, I’m probably going straight to hell but look it, you gotta do what you gotta do.

“I haven’t ever gotten in trouble for a sketch,” she continued.

“I’ve gotten vibes that I’m not the most liked person in a room at times but I’m just being me.”

The Doireann Project follows a pilot episode that Doireann and RTÉ made in January, which is still available to watch on the RTÉ Player.

The show came about when the broadcaster approached Doireann after spotting her talents on social media.
