It's been 14 years since we've had a Lara Croft movie, starring Angelina Jolie, and now the baton has been passed on to a new Lara.
Alicia Vikander will take over the reigns of the iconic role. It will start fresh giving some of Lara's backstory about how she is the daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was a teen.
The movie will pick up with a 21-year-old Lara, who lives in London and works as a bike courier. She's struggling to keep up with rent and takes college courses, but rarely makes it to class.
Going against her father's final wishes, she leaves everything she knows behind in search of her dad’s last-known destination, a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan.
