The first look at the chilling new BBC drama we’re all going to be hooked on is here

We’ve got so many questions.

BBC One have released the first look at their chilling new drama, The Cry – and we’re already hooked.

And needing to know what actually happened to baby Noah ASAP.

The four-part drama, based on the novel of the same name by Helen FitzGerald, stars Doctor Who’s Jenna Coleman and Top of the Lake: China Girl‘s Ewen Leslie as married couple Joanna and Alistair.

The pair make the long journey from Scotland to Australia to fight for custody of Alistair’s daughter, Chloe, who he shares with his ex wife.

But when the couple make a quick stop on a remote roadside outside of Melbourne, their own baby son, Noah, goes missing.

And it looks like things soon spiral out of control.

The Cry follows what happens next as they continue the desperate search for Noah, while speculation about the state of their own marriage cause doubts about their own innocence.

Alistair is seen telling the camera that he’s “trying to hold it together”, before it cuts to Joanna telling him “I need you to stop lying to me”.

You can check out the trailer below.

The series was filmed in Glasgow and Melbourne earlier this year. It is a co-production between the BBC and ABC in Australia.

The rest of the cast includes some familiar faces, including X-Men Origins: Wolverine’s Asher Keddie, Holby City’s Stella Gonet and Neighbours‘ Alex Dimitriades.

  • The Cry will debut on BBC One later this year.
