The first trailer for Stephen King’s The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep is finally here

“You’re magic, like me.”

Stephen King has been fairly killing it lately on the movie adaptation front.

He’s seen the success of It, he’s seen the excitement over It Part 2, he’s dropped Gerald’s Game onto our Netflix screens and made us never want to attempt to vaguely spice up our sex lives ever again.

Doing a decent job, in fairness to him, and now it looks like he’s about to go one further with the upcoming release of the adaptation of his best-selling novel, Doctor Sleep.

The widely anticipated sequel to The Shining, the film follows a grown up Danny Torrence as he struggles to deal with the fact that he’s still a bit different from other people.

Danny (played by Ewan McGregor) has carried his ability to see into the future with him through his life, now using it to comfort terminally ill patients as they lay dying in a care home.

However, Danny then meets another person who has the shinning – a girl named Abra, who informs him that they need to band together to destroy a cult who are preying on kids who have the gift.

Directed by Mike Flannigan, who is known for Hush, Gerald’s Game and The Haunting of Hill House, Doctor Sleep looks like to be a terrifying dive into the psyche of the gifted, the desires of the evil, and the childhood trauma that stays with a person long after they have grown up.

Doctor Sleep is set for release later this year.
