Music fans are venting their frustration online as Ticketmaster struggled to keep up with demand for Ed Sheeran concert tickets.

The singer is set to play six dates in Ireland next summer, with tickets for the gigs being highly sought-after.

People were seen queuing as early as Thursday night in parts of the country to be the first in line when the tickets went on sale at 9am this morning.

But many were disappointed after being left in a virtual queue for over an hour, while others were unable to get tickets at all.

#EdSheeran trended on Twitter as fans ranted about Ticketmaster’s service.

Aiken Promotions has issued a statement amidst the chaos, asking customers to be patient.

“Please bear with us as there are lots of people at outlets and lots of people online purchasing tickets and Ticketmaster are getting through everything as quickly as possible,” it read.

This comes after new measures were introduced to prevent ticket touts profiting from Ed’s gigs.

The singer’s team announced that resold tickets would not be accepted for his tour, and that concert-goers would need booking confirmation, their credit card and valid ID to get in.
