Georgia made a pretty awkward hand gesture during the Eurovision semi-final

Laura Holland

Whoops!

The first of the Eurovision Semi-Finals took place last night. We saw the likes of Moldova (who have a banger by the way), Belgium, Australia, Poland and Greece take to the stage in the hopes of qualifying for the final.

Don’t worry if you think you missed our Brendan, he’s not on until tomorrow night.

As per usual, at the end of the live performances, the hosts did a recap and gave viewers the chance to vote for their favourite. They went from country to country playing snippets of the live performances before cutting back to each act who had five seconds to shout “vote for me” to the camera.

When it came time for Georgia to appear on screen, they managed to do an unfortunate hand gesture to the camera when they actually meant something completely different.

They were number two on the list so they were either gesturing the number two, or they were signalling a peace sign. Either way, it got lost in translation and they ended up flipping the bird to all of Europe.
