Great British Bake Off’s Ruby Bhogal tricked into ‘revealing this year’s winner’

Not again!

The Great British Bake Off’s Ruby Bhopal is said to have revealed the winner of this series of the cooking show – after she was tricked by a prankster on Twitter.

The 29-year-old, who is in the semi-final next week alongside Kim-Joy, Rahul and Briony, was reportedly duped into revealed the winner by someone who had set up and account pretending to be host Sandi Toksvig.

According to The Sunthe person behind the account was actually a 26-year-old man from Swansea. He is said to have set up a twitter account that looked similar to Sandi’s and began chatting with Ruby via direct message.

They exchanged messages about the series’ Danish Week, before he got Ruby to reveal the name of the winer. The publication did not disclose the name of the winning baker.

The person behind the Twitter account – which is now said to be suspended – claimed he did it because he was “bored”.

He added:

“It’s actually pretty easy to do really.

“You just make a fake profile of one of their friends and then they follow you.

“You then change your name and message them and they have no clue.”

The news comes almost 12 months to the day when judge Prue Leith prematurely revealed who won last year’s series.
