‘Controversial’ new doctor will be joining Grey’s Anatomy this season

And she's related to one of our favourites

She will definitely stir up some drama.

Grey Sloan Memorial will be facing even more family drama when Grey’s Anatomy returns this fall.

The (literally) explosive saw a number of familiar faces exit from the show – as well as setting up the arrival of a few new ones, like Owen’s sister Megan.

But it turns out one more sibling is going to be joining the halls of Grey Sloan for season 14.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Stefania Spampinato has booked a multi episode arc as Carina DeLuca – the sister of Giacomo Gianniotti’s Andrew DeLuca.

And there’s going to be plenty of drama between the siblings when she takes up residence at Grey Sloan.

Giacomo said:

“This year, we’re going to definitely have DeLuca’s character a little more fleshed out with the arrival of his sister from Italy.

“We’re going to see a new dynamic in the hospital as his sister arrives, and it’s not exactly good news; he’s frustrated by it.

“She has a very interesting and controversial — some would say — profession within the medical field, which makes him uncomfortable.

“It’s a thorn in his side, her being there, but everybody else is quite fond of her. She will be working [at the hospital], and she’s going to help tell the story of DeLuca and how he comes from Italy.

“They’re going to speak a little bit of Italian, which will be nice for the Italian fans, because [the show’s] so big in Italy.”

In another casting shakeup for Grey Sloan Memorial, Abigail Spencer will be playing the role of Megan Hunt, previously played by Bridget Regan, for a “multi-episode arc” this season.

The introduction of Owen’s sister, who was presumed dead for ten years, is sure to cause plenty of tension in the upcoming season.

After all, her ex Nathan Riggs has been getting pretty close to Meredith…
