Did we really need to know this?
The Harry Potter series came to an end in 2011, with the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
But, even after all these years, there is still plenty of new information out there about the Wizarding World – mostly due to Pottermore and the new Fantastic Beasts series.
Friday was National Trivia Day, and Pottermore decided they were going to share a new piece of knowledge about the Harry Potter universe to celebrate.
And, if we’re being honest, we definitely could have done without this information. It really should have been left in the Room of Requirement for…forever.
They wrote:
“Hogwarts didn’t always have bathrooms.
“Before adopting Muggle plumbing methods in the eighteenth century, witches and wizards simply relieved themselves wherever they stood, and vanished the evidence. #NationalTriviaDay“

And fans have some very, very strong opinions about the fact.

Harry Potter fans: it’d be cool if we had some Harry Potter trivia
JK Rowling: dumbledore is gay
HPF: haha cool
JK: they often have mutual masturbation sessions in the hufflepuff dormitories
HPF: what
JK: everyone used to shit themselves— Calum McSwiggan (@CalumMcSwiggan) January 5, 2019
You’re telling me @jk_rowling that Dumbledore was pooping in Diagon Alley and vanishing it in front of everyone?!?!?!?!? I am screaming!

But then it gets a lot worse.
Some Harry Potter fans were quick to point out that vanishing spells weren’t typically taught to students until much later at their time at Hogwarts – which means that the first, second and even third year students were out of luck.
As someone pointed out:
“The vanishing spell is considered one of the tougher OWL spells and is usually taught in the fourth or fifth year.
“So younger students would have to take a dump in a corner and then go find someone to vanish it for them. This is literally canon now.”
