We give up.
We all fell head over heels for what we thought was First Dates Ireland‘s best ever match, Eoin and Tara, last night.
Eoin, an insurance man from Laois and Tara, a student nurse from Tallaght, appeared to hit it off from the get-go.
They swapped life stories – Tara lost a partner to Sudden Adult Death Syndrome a number of years ago, while Eoin was living in Canada a few years back when he learned he was father to a little boy from a previous relationship – and laughed throughout their date, giving us all high hopes for their future together, or at the very least a few more dates.
Tara and Eoin Omg. There sooo cute. And well matched. #FirstDatesIRL pic.twitter.com/vHdfFlNhi9

The pair left the First Dates restaurant and skipped off into the sunset (well, Doyle’s on College Street) but sadly, things didn’t exactly go to plan after that.
Speaking to Ryan Tubridy on RTÉ Radio 1 this morning, Eoin revealed that there was no longer anything romantic between them.
“We’re still chatting, we’re still chatting, nothing intimate the last few months but we’re good freinds,” he said.
“Tara is a lovely girl and I think she’s a great girl to be honest.”
Devastating.
Eoin also shared an update on RTÉ2’s Twitter this afternoon.
// DATER UPDATE //
How’re ye fixed? We’ve a short update here from Eoin after last night’s date with Tara.

His club reached the county final, he says, which is well enough for Eoin but little consolation for us.
