For many of us, Home Alone is the most nostalgia-inducing Christmas film. Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister is absolutely iconic, and who could forget the dastardly villains Marv and Harry?
Played by Daniel Stern and Joe Pesci, the two low-life burglars who got quite the comeuppance have provided tension and excitement for a lot of little boys and girls watching the film since 1990.
Stern has recently posted on Facebook about working with Pesci, and it’s a fascinating insight into their great performances:
“Harry and Marv were always intended to be a classic comic duo. John Hughes wrote it that way and Chris Columbus directed it that way… Joe and I bought into that into that idea from the very beginning.”
He also posted a more recent picture of the guys.
“Our physical types were as different as Laurel and Hardy and we set about making our own version of those guys. You’ll notice Joe even invented his own cartoon language that he spews when he gets really frustrated.”
Stern also described co-star Pesci as ‘a dear friend, and my partner in crime.’ We can’t, it’s too cute.
