Hustlers has exceeded box office expectations - a much needed win for adult female focused movies. The past few years have seen an abundance of films released featuring strong female leads, decent casts, and writers telling stories about women's issues that do actually happen to be women. One of those movies is Hustlers, a crime drama about a group of women who start stealing money from the high power men who visit the strip club they work in. Featuring a solid and diverse cast made up of Constance Wu, Jennifer Lopez, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Lizzo, and Cardi B, the film received pretty positive reviews from critics following its release. Similarly, audiences have been praising the movie for its fresh depiction of stripping as a profession, as well as J-Lo's performance, which may actually be one of her best her date. The film was always expected to do well, but now it appears that Hustlers has only gone and exceeded all expectations at the box office. Taking in a substantial $33.2 million in US last week, the movie has already given studio STX Entertainment its most successful opening weekend to date. Not only this, but the film nabbed the second spot at the box office after IT: Chapter Two, that took home $47 million on its second weekend. Fair play to all involved, tbh.
