Many Gilmore Girls fans, myself included, are hesitant about the show returning after A Year In The Life aired.
As incredible as it was to return to Stars Hollow, the show simply didn't have the same spark or magic as the original series did. It was missing the warmth that we all love about Gilmore Girls, but that doesn't mean we'd say no to another revival.
Although fans are hesitant, Lauren Graham had a pretty clever idea about the show's future.
Speaking about a possible Gilmore Girls reboot, Graham suggested something even better... a Christmas special.
During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Lauren Graham said she would be open to playing Lorelai again, but likes the idea of having a Gilmore Girls Christmas special.
She told the host, "To me, something that I love, they do [this] in England more than they do here, is you have a season of a show that you've loved and then, like ‘Downton Abbey’ was one for me, and then they do like a ‘Downton Abbey’ Christmas special."
"So, you get to visit your characters, but it's not like a whole reboot," she explained.
Graham's comments come after she told the Call Her Daddy podcast that she thought there would be more episodes after the revival.
Graham agreed that the ending of the revival left fans with even more questions, and she was under the impression that the show would return.
However, she’s always been hesitant to ask show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino about the future of Gilmore Girls.
“This is just my theory, but I do not know. There are questions I could get an answer to that I’ve never asked. It did feel like a cliffhanger, and I do think it was.
“I think maybe the thought was that we’d go into another season then, but I’ve never asked, and I don’t know.”
Graham admitted she is scared to ask in case the show’s creators didn’t want to continue working on it or Netflix felt like it wasn’t worthy of a second season.
“I don’t want to see behind the curtain. There’s just a little bit of movie magic that I’d like to maintain.”
We need Rory to figure out her life, and we need to know who the father of her baby is. Surely a Christmas special is the perfect solution, right?
