He would be so perfect.

Back in 2014, an Irish version of Blind Date was supposed to be hitting our screens. At that point, Lucy Kennedy was lined up to present the show but then it was cancelled.

Now, three years later, it appears that the show could still happen. Except, this time around, there is a new host. Comedian Al Porter has been linked with the presenting role with an insider telling The Sun all about it.

They said:

“Al is perfect for hosting Blind Date.

He can pull in viewers and go off script and be entertaining. Al’s a vaudeville performer.”

Bill Malone, the former RTÉ2 boss, has recently joined TV3 as the Director of Programming and it’s believed that he is the reason for the new interest in the show and also in Al.

The insider added:

“First Dates has been doing well on RTE2 so TV3 need their own dating show, and Al Porter fronting Blind Date would make car-crash TV.”
