And we’re out… Irish Eurovision hopes come crashing down

Niamh Maher

The hot air balloon wasn’t enough to save Brendan Murray.

For the fourth year in a row Ireland have failed to make it through to the live final of the Eurovision song contest.

Galway-born Brendan Murray, 20, took to the stage in Kiev last night for the second round of the live semi-finals, and despite an impressive performance, he failed to make the cut.

Bulgaria’s Kristian Kostov progressed to Saturday’s grand final, along with acts from nine other countries.

17 year old Kostov is the youngest singer this year and is third favourite to win.

We’re not ones to hold a grudge and the Irish took to Twitter last night to applaud Brendan efforts, sure there’s always next year!

We’ll be back Europe.
